Limited Edition Trolley Car

Trolley cars as we know them began to expand in the cities about 1890, soon, they were expanding into the suburbs connecting small towns to other towns.  Trolleys lines allowed people to live and work in separate locations. Danville entrepreneurs, as always, were ready to invest in this new means of transportation, so therefore, The Danville and Bloomsburg Street Railway Company was chartered September 1, 1903. The first car on the D&B to reach Danville left Bloomsburg on Oct 3, 1904 at 8:20p.m. Automobiles, new on the scene, soon overtook public transportation even though the trolley companies tried desperately to institute parks, picnic areas and even trolley baseball leagues to promote use of their system.  The last D&B car left Danville on March 2, 1926 at eleven p.m. There were nine passengers on board.  Progress marched on. In 2007 we are please to announce the limited edition of an “O” scale D&B Trolley that will run on your “O” train tracks. Price of this trolley is $89.95
In 2001, The IHF Committee commissioned an "O" gauge, limited coal car to commemorate the rolling of the first T-Rail in America on October 8, 1845, in Danville.

In 2002 the committee released the 2nd of the limited edition train cars. The first is an "O" gauge boxcar that features an imprint of the IHF logo on one side and an imprint of the Reading Iron Mill on the other side. The seconded car is a limited, numbered edition of "HO" gauge boxcars identical to the "O" gauge.

2003 the committee commissioned a limited number of tank cars with the IHF logo on one side and the imprint of the "Big Mill" on the other. The 2004 train car is a stock car and in 2005 we had the IHF Caboose! The 2001 Coal Car is no longer available but you may purchase the other train cars at the IHF Shoppe.
In 2005, we decided to finish up the train set by commissioning the perfect steam engine and tender. A very limited number of extra engines have been ordered so if you missed your chance to buy one these engines please don’t hesitate to inquire at the Store for the availability of an engine for the cost of $225.00.
All editions of the train cars are numbered and come with a certificate of authenticity. As a purchaser of a train car you will be notified of future train cars that may be available for sale at the IHF Company Store. These 'O' gauge train cars can be purchased for $40 and the 'HO' gauges have been reduced to $5.00. The Box Car 'O' gauge train cars now sell for $15.00. Don’t miss this special price.

Danville's Iron Heritage Home Town Collectibles

The first in a series of Danville's Iron Heritage buildings is 'Thomas Beaver's Mansion' The second is the 'Grist Mill' and for Christmas 2003, the new collectible was 'The Company Store'.  In 2005 the ‘Old Mill Row Homes’ that were on North Mill St and taken in the renewal project in 1964 went on sale. These buildings come with a detailed history of the building on the back. When the collection is complete, you will have your own village of Danville's past historic buildings.  In 2006 we finished up the collection with the ‘Big Mill’ (as we all call it) which was located where the Danville Middle School now sits. Also available is an additional piece, the Dinky Train, used to haul ore from the mines to the mill. This year we start a collection of past Danville Buildings beginning with the ‘Opera House’. This majestic building, which sat at the corner of Mill and East Mahoning Streets, was torn down in 1936 to make way for the Post Office. The Opera House, selling for $18.00 is a great addition to your Danville Hometown collectibles.
The Iron Series – In 2005 a new iron series began. Iron Swans were forged in a local foundry, numbered and boxed attractively for sale. Last year we presented the Iron Beaver paperweight. Patterned from the wooden mold of the original Beaver paperweight and offered to customers in the late 1800’s by the Danville Stove Works. A rarer Beaver Paperweight, will be available this year to and sells for $25. Only available if you have purchased the 2006 Beaver Paperweight. Set of 2 available for $45.00

A project of the IHF Committee in 2006 was the Men of Iron – This booklet complied by the 2006 IHF committee, lists the men who toiled in the Iron industry in our county. This list was complied from the US Census of Danville and local townships from the years 1850 thru 1900. Also included are bios of some of these iron men contributed by their descendants, a glossary of iron manufacturing terms and a listing of the mills Danville was so famous for. This booklet is still available and sells for $10.00. This is a great tool for young and old on the history of Danville’s Iron Heritage.
